The weather did improve, in fact, since then it has been fantastic. We stayed in Extremadura for 10 days in the end as it was so lovely, but finally we moved on. Before we left, we visited a small town called Trojilla from where the Conquistadors set off to conquer South America. We then spent two days in Cordoba visiting all the sights – Mezquita Cathedral and Roman Bridge etc. It was a bit of a shock being back in a busy city, so we then moved on to Ronda, which is just North of Marbella. This is one of the oldest towns in Spain and also has the oldest Bullfighting ring. It is another beautiful area of Spain set in the Serrania of Malaga (mountains), and Ronda has the third deepest chasm in the world – quite stunning. We are still exploring this region, and will probably stay here at least a week, then maybe to Marbella for a few days

Well' looks like we're all having a good time. After a day in LA (didn't get the Yellow-footed Gull - bas***dos) headed off for Las Vegas, a long haul but well worth it. Much to the disbelief of our taxi driver, we spent a full day in the Nevada Desert about 50 miles from civilisation, it was brilliant. Lucy's Warbler, Grey Flycatcher, Bullock's Oriole and Phainopepla all 'lifers'. A wander round the casinos and it was off to Flagstaff for the Canyon. Needless to sayetc etc.
On to Phoenix and Violet-Green Swallow on the way and up to Fresno. Bit surprising there no one seemed to have heard of Yosemite so as I write we are in Merced and champing at the bit to get to the forest tomorrow.
Glad to hear all good with you. Will write again next time FREE access is available ha ha!
Love
