Riaza was a very unexpected area of Spain which we had not heard of before. It is very mountainous and beautiful with the most amazing craggy gorge which was famous for the highest concentration of Griffon Vultures. We had a couple of cold, bright sunny days to explore and I think the photos will speak for themselves.
From here we travelled to the region of Extremadura, which is about three hours South West of Madrid, near to a town called Caceres. We are camped in the Monfrague National Park, which again is famous for Eagles, Vultures, little black pigs which I can’t remember the name of – which produce a famous ham similar to Parma Ham, they roam wild amongst the Cork Oaks. We had an excellent day in the park yesterday with a guide who took us to see some amazing sights, especially the birds, but the weather has been very very wet – so hopefully in the next day or so we will be able to get out and explore some more of this fantastic place. From here we are planning to head for Cordoba/Granada/Seville area of Spain.

Hi Terry & Paul,
Your trip sounds absolutely wonderful, I'm sure you'll have the most amazing experience. And no more IBM for 6 months! We look forward to reading your regular updates... thanks for keeping in touch with us here down under. All the best, Jane, Christian & Ava xxx
Well, the weekly trips to Bedfont and Southbank just don't compare. Most exciting thing last week was the security system failing at Southbank so you couldn't get into the offices - bit of a blessing really!! And the only vultures I come across are the human variety. Sounds like you're having a ball so I don't need to wish you well. Just don't try to make us feel so jealous!!
